Role Overview
As a Principal Director in Risk & Compliance Consulting, you will serve as a senior leader and strategic advisor to C-level stakeholders, leading high-impact engagements across the full spectrum of operational risk, compliance, and resilience. Drawing on 12-15+ years of experience, you will shape risk transformation agendas, drive technology-enabled risk solutions, and help clients navigate the evolving regulatory and threat landscape. You will also play a pivotal role in business development and practice growth, in preparation for an MD role.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Risk Leadership
Lead complex engagements spanning operational risk, enterprise risk, compliance transformation, and operational resilience.
Provide expert guidance on regulatory expectations (e.g., SAMA frameworks, DORA, Basel II/III, etc.).
Define risk strategies, governance models, and target operating models for risk and compliance functions.
Drive alignment with business priorities and evolving risk taxonomies.
2. Technology-Enabled Risk Transformation
Design and deliver risk and compliance solutions leveraging GRC platforms (e.g., RSA Archer, ServiceNow GRC, MetricStream), analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Python-based risk modeling), and custom dashboarding.
Shape digital risk architecture and tooling to support real-time risk insights and executive decision-making.
Evaluate and deploy risk and compliance technology platforms to enhance control effectiveness and reduce manual effort.
3. Innovation & AI in Risk Management
Guide clients on emerging AI use cases across compliance monitoring, fraud detection, internal audit augmentation, and risk scenario modeling.
Assess risks associated with AI/ML models and ensure responsible AI governance and compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
Translate regulatory guidance into actionable AI implementation frameworks.
4. Client Advisory & Relationship Management
Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, including CROs, CCOs, COOs, and Boards.
Build long-term client relationships and develop C-level credibility through consistent delivery and strategic foresight.
Drive growth in key accounts through insight-led conversations and value-based selling.
5. Practice Development & Leadership
Shape go-to-market offerings in operational risk, resilience, and compliance transformation.
Mentor senior managers and managers, fostering a high-performance and collaborative consulting culture.
Represent the practice at industry forums, publications, and innovation roundtables.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience: 12+ years in risk and compliance consulting, preferably at a Tier 1 consultancy.
- Education: Advanced degree in Management, Finance, Technology, or related discipline. Relevant certifications (e.g., FRM, CRISC, CAMS) are a plus.
Technical Expertise:
- Deep knowledge of operational risk frameworks (e.g., RCSA, KRI, ICAAP, risk appetite)
- Operational resilience domains (e.g., scenario testing, impact tolerance, business services)
- Regulatory compliance (AML, conduct risk, data privacy)
- Proficiency with GRC, analytics, and visualization tools
- Familiarity with AI/ML applications and associated risk governance.
- Arabic language is a plus
